[1] Let Them Eat Cake [2] is the sort of independent magazine that gives me hope that there's still a market for publications doing their own thing, having their own spirit and also peeeerhaaaaps *she says ever so hesitantly* one day, a day hopefully not too far off, a magazine of my own will spawn and crawl its way to fruition (I’m just jinxing myself now!). The initial ideas was to give up and coming stylists, writers and photographers, a platform to show off their work and so Let Them Eat Cake started in the form of an A5 booklet with barely 20 pages in the first issue.
[3] [4]The latest 8th issue is now about the size of Nylon, about nearly as many pages, with far less advertising and also printed on better quality paper. Progress indeed! The cover features Alice Dellal [5], model/socialite with a penchant for a partially shaved head, side swept hairstyle that I believe only she could pull off.
There are also a healthy amount of fashion spreads in the new issue, highlighting angular jutting structures, clashing stripes and plaid, tie dye and rainbow feathers; all the things that happen to be getting me egg-cited! Thinking about incorporating everything in that list all in one look is sending the mind reeling into fashion overdrive on the brain...
So, in short, the more cake, the better really...
