Unsexifying...

I’ve never dug the sexy secretary/librarian thing. The seductive looks over the glasses, the pencil skirts that are a little on the tight side, the unbuttoned cardigans, the hair that falls out of its chignons, - all of it plays all too easily into clichéd sexual fantasies of guys that I’d rather not give the satisfaction of portraying. Instead I’d rather go the opposite direction and be an undecidedly unsexy secretary/librarian with some sheer pop socks and these deceptively simple clothes from the Sarah Locke [1] SS08 collection. From her Miro-inspired last collection [2], she now gives us separates that are just that little bit loose and long for most people’s tastes but when executed with pleats, interesting fabrics and when I have a full belief that seemingly ‘geeky’ looking clothes have their own special charm.... it all makes this collection an enticing prospect for covering up for summer.
