The Cho Shoe
(Wonderful backstage photography by Karl Rothenberg)
Is it really wrong to play with a person's name in the way that I do with designer Benjamin Cho's name? It might seem that I post about his collections for the sake of funny post titles but in all honesty, there really are only a handful of designers I look forward to seeing at New York and he is most definitely one of them. He continued his exploration of knotting, macrame and embroidery techniques with the Cho touches of surrealism from gigantic floral petal dresses to horse headed ladies with a knitted train. I won't be overly praising as I feel there isn't so much of a progression this time round but I am intrigued by this backstage picture of the shoes. Could I possibly grab some holographic stick back plastic and wrap it around some old pumps and wear them with some level of seriousness? To Paperchase I go when I get back to London tomorrow... (yes this tech-injury-ridden trip has ended and with some relief, I am flying home tonight...).
