We will, we will Rodnik

So it really must seem like I'm some sort of groupie of Rodnik, a British label that 'are not a rock band' but like to accompany their clothes with a lot of air guitar and dandified lyrics sung in the way that Damon Albarn did on Park Life (except with a Sur-rey accent....).  It just so happens that I caught their 'gig' outside Comme des Garcons in Paris last October and then their performance at the IQONS magazine launch party two days ago in New York at The Box.  As a band that aren't really a band goes, the songs aren't half bad.  The clothes are of course miles better if a little disconnected from the spirit of the music from which I half expect something sequinned and something feathered.  Instead, it's tailored, ruffled, chic loveliness that costs an arm and a leg.  Nothing wrong with that though.

Rodnik performing their standout dancemove complete hit 'Russian Fire Burn' to a crowd of less than ten people outside the Comme des Garcons store in Paris.  I believe the gold dress that Lily (the girl on the right) is wearing was a bit of a buyer's hit.  Sing it everybody 'Russian.  Fire.  Burn.  Rising from the ashes.  Bringing back the fashion!'

Rodnik performing 'How to be lovely' at The Box, New York with the models wearing their SS08 collection and looking a little perplexed as to what is going on behind them....
