Day Birger et Mikkelsen is one of those labels that I would happily imagine myself wearing when I reach a certain age (and a certain income!) and I'm wafting about in my own non-rented house, throwing tasteful dinner parties and swanning down Sloane Street to the Day store looking serene and suitably chic.   

Actually I may never reach that stage and in reality the price gap between the likes of Topshop/Zara are closing in with Day Birger et Mikkelsen.  However, what will probably sway me to becoming a Day customer is their new range called 'Day et Friends', a younger line from Day Birger et Mikkelsen.  I'm hoping by 'younger', the price range is also suitably younger-aimed.  Each Day et Friends collection will be designed by an external designer and for the first AW08-9 collection that will hit stores in June 2008, luckily, Preen have been asked to do it.  Even more reason for me to cross into the realms of Day Birger et Mikkelson. 

The object of the collection is to focus on 'minimalism and coolness' with an emphasis on unique shapes.  If these preview images are anything to go by, I think the objectives has been achieved but I'd definitely like to see more Preen shining through in the collection.  Nonetheless, I shall certainly be rooting this out when it drops in June.
