Mariah Carey has slammed reports she is feuding with Jennifer Lopez.

The 'Hero' singer vehemently denied ever saying she would rather "be on stage with a pig" than duet with J.Lo, insisting the remarks are "sad" and a "complete untruth".

Mariah told People magazine: "This is just some Internet gossip and it's pathetic that people actually entertain the thought that this could be real. This is another sad example of two strong women being pitted against each other."

Mariah is currently putting the finishing touches to her new album, which is due out in the spring.

The Grammy award-winning star admits she is incredibly excited about the LP, the follow-up to 2005's 'The Emancipation of Mimi'.

She recently said: "I'm in love with this album. I think that having the success with the last record allowed me to have more freedom and just make records that I like. It's kind of a really fun record."
