Yes, she's at it again. Training with Team in Training for the Disney Marathon on January 11 in Orlando. Since her first leukemia remission 5 years ago, Heather has participated and completed the Nike 26.2k, the Dublin 26.2K, handled one leg of a triathelon, and has been an active contributor of her time to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She feels the monies raised in the past saved her life, as the treatments she received were new and her protocal for her bone marrow transplant was a clinical trial. Now, nearing the anniversary of her second year since the transplant, with no sign of the disease, she is again raising funds to participate. The Team in Training organization assists athletes in the various aspects of training for events and coordinates the entries, travel and logistics. 80% of the funds raised go directly to blood borne cancer research, while the balance goes to administration/training and expenses.
