Victoria Beckham reportedly insisted a UK department store is re-decorated ahead of the launch of her latest perfume.

The former Spice Girl wanted the pink carpets at Manchester's Harvey Nichols replaced by purple ones to match the packaging of her new scent, but her demands have angered store insiders.

One worker told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "She is such a control freak we're expecting her to lay the carpet herself.

"It's the grand launch. She hasn't even revealed the name of the perfume yet.

"We pride ourselves on being one of Britain's trendiest stores, but we're obviously not posh enough for Posh."

Victoria, 34, has now decided to bring her own carpet to ensure the event goes without a hitch later this month.

A spokesman for the star said: "We do have our own purple carpet, which we will put down for the launch.

"That is simply because the whole theme of her new fragrance is purple."

A Harvey Nichols spokesman added: "It will just be so that the carpet matches the fragrance launch."
