Summer Repetition

I don't know why but as August begins, for me, summer has already winded down and it's time to get down to some hard graft.  Ok, so I haven't actually officially had a holiday nor do I plan on taking one but as my workload is about to increase ten fold in an awesome and exciting way, it will be bye bye to any form of relaxation I had hoped for...but hello hard graft which I actually secretly enjoy because I'm not a lounging-around kinda gal...

(Flower shots taken at my boyfriend's nan's house by the coast in Kent...the last time I truly relaxed...)

Not that the summer hasn't instilled values of laziness in me.  As I looked down at this dress I was wearing today, I realised that I have worn it more times than any other item in my wardrobe this summer... it might have something to do with the fact that it's the emergency dress I keep at my boyfriend's house and since his house has lovely high ceilings, a garden and a TV...well I have been bumming around there more than I planned to do.  With various other cardis, t-shirts, shoes though, somehow I make the dress work for me and the fact that it is one of those HKD50 (about a fiver) dresses that I bought FIVE years ago when I was in Hong Kong just makes me laff and laff inside... a cheapie that I wear over and over again... I can't alas say the same thing about a lot of my other cheapies.  Still, when stern and sombre fashion is around the corner instructing you that you need to spend more on cut and style and be sensible with the recession and all... somehow my cheapie summer staple reassures me somewhat.  That the 'R' word doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to have to save for months for that one expensive buy that will see me through for years on end and that a cheap thrill still exists.
