Tom Cruise’s 13 Year Old Son Lands a Cessna 172 Skyhawk

Tom Cruise’s son is having flying lessons.

Connor, 13, was seen at the ‘Top Gun’ actor’s aircraft hangar in Burbank,
California, on Saturday (07/12/08), where he was taking a lesson with an
instructor.

According to a source, the teenager practiced taking off, cruising and
landing a Cessna 172 Skyhawk three times.

He was also seen doing stunts on a motorcycle.

It is legal for Connor to have the lessons but he cannot obtain a license
until he turns 16.

Tom earned his pilot’s license in 1994. He previously had the chance to
learn to fly in 1986 while filming his role as an aspiring fighter pilot in
‘Top Gun’ but declined because his dyslexia made it difficult for him to
learn the theory.

He explained: “When I was 22, when I was making ‘Top Gun’, I got the chance
to make my dream come true - to become a pilot. I thought, ‘This is the time
to do it,’ so I had a couple of lessons. But then I just blew it off. When
people asked what happened, I told them I was too busy preparing for the
film, just didn't have time. The truth is, I couldn't learn how to do it.”

Connor is Tom’s adopted son with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. The pair also have
an adopted 15-year-old daughter, Isabella.

Tom has a two-year-old daughter, Suri, with wife Katie Holmes.
