Books
What did YOU wear today?
finding out that such a fashion web 2.0 specific book was being published via Bits and Bobbins and reading the VERY stimulating comments that ensued because of her post, I literally got on the phone to the publishers and requested a review copy pronto. So we have a book called 'What I wore today...', the premise of a lot of fashion blogs that we all read and view with. The book isn't written by any particular author but by Korero

The Steve is away so I got to spend the evening with Yves instead, watching the Yves Saint Laurent documentaries 'His Life and Times' and '5 Avenue Marceau 75116 Paris' back to back and then re-reading The Beautiful Fall (tea stains a-plenty in this well thumbed book...). My favourite bits in the books are when the encounters with Yves' various muses are recalled, with

Now I know the Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony collection probably divided opinions across the board. Love? Hate? Dug the shoes, hated the clothes? Liberty print overdose? The composition and the structure imposed by the garments in the phot
Judging the covers only
Passing by my local gem of a bookstore Black Gull Books never failes to bring some chuckles and smiles even though it is closed by the time I come home (ergo, at least an hour of my weekend is spent browsing there...) and this week, their window display has some excellent vintage 'young persons' books with the sort of illustrated covers that just don't really exist anymore. Of course, the titles are intriguing enough.. 'You're a brick, Angela!' and 'The Girl's Budget' for example.... what could it all mean.... but having not gone beyond the covers at all, instead, I clock a rather fetching tweed beret and coat combo, some nun-chic 1930's-40's school hockey outfits, some juicy bright polo shirts and puffy 'too-short' childrens' dresses that reminds me how I weep that I can't fit into the stuff I had when I was five. Shallow? Me? Not at all...
