Domestic Geometrics

Of COURSE I didn't go to the show as most peeps know, Balenciaga is a fortress that most people won't ever conquer.  Buuuuut... and I'll maintain this, a resee of the collection in the showroom is pretty awesome too, not least because touching the fabrication feats that Nicholas Ghesquiere pushed in this collection is pretty crucial to understand what the heck all these domestic textures are all about.  I snapped some of my favourite bits and bobs from a collection that had so many strands going on that it's basically a fabric fetishist's joy to go through on the rails...

Melted Heels

>> A closer look at the Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte heels which sort of ties up all the NYFW stuff for now and leads nicely into the sunny Somerset House (more weather like this please!).  I think in terms of design are the most evolved and complex yet and echoes the piecing and patchwork elements of the collection in a seamless way.  It's all about the mixing it up!  They're on display at London Fashion Week at the bottom of the stairs leading to the Portico Rooms if you want to take a gander...

Wedge Up

>> I may be feeling weird and stunted but moments of cheer are still dropping into my inbox.  I'm a bit confuzzled as to why Copenhagen Fashion Week clashed with New York rendering me unable to attend the Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair show but their S/S 10 stock has landed in their e-store and I think you'll agree that these wedges are surely the natural progression of my Clarks desert boots that both use the exact same Liberty paisley print...

Blossoming Feet

>> Liberty has really been mining its print heritage what with all the Prints Charming shenanigans last year and now for spring summer 2010, they're using Flower Power to their advantage with many a collaboration on it way with Liberty of London's collab with Milan's 10 Corso Como already underway.

I'm most excited to have nabbed a sneak peek of an upcoming marriage between Liberty Art Fabrics and.... Nicholas Kirkwood... as if I needed to even type that out because the shape here is plain to see and pretty much instantly recognisable.

Foulard Limbs

>> Another Itty Pitti find here (you're probably noticing that I just actually like saying the word Pitti as well as typing it...it's especially good in my really bad faux Italian accent).  Like most tradeshows, bloggers going around taking snaps aren't really appreciated because obviously it's a place where designers and labels are out to showcase to buyers specifically.  Researching a lot of the things I picked up online has been hazardous though given that a lot of the things I liked don't have a huge web presence.
