Red Shoes

The most recurring and oft-blog-quoted shoe imagery goes to Dorothy's red sequinned shoes in Wizard of Oz and whilst the shoes themselves have always seemed too obvious a thing to go for (and also because me and red don't really do well together....), wearing a pair around the neck would probably be a better option.
Just for fun...
I'll admit that I let myself fall into clothing traps. If I see any of the following - black sequins, grey jersey or silver lame, I'm immediately there. This list also includes printed leggings which many of you will probably grimace at. I say printed leggings, but I don't mean EVERY one of them under the leggings sun. There are of course limits and exceptions. I just think that the right pair lends a certain level of interest to an outfit. However, when I stumbled across Just4Fun, a label based in Barcelona, it was a case of giving the thumbs-up to their particular range of printed leggings. They also do catsuits (a wee more taxing than a pair of leggings, I think we'll agree....), bandanas and tube
Made of China...
As much as I like inhaling the fumes of freshly made plastic goods, the tag 'Made in China' doesn't fill me with enthusiasm. Made OF China however is a whole different story... In fact, I think this is the first time I have encountered ceramic jewellery and at the Urbis centre in Manchester (where I am this weekend...) is where I came across these bone china teacup bracelets by Abigail Mary-Rose Clerk. Adorned with ribbons, painted flowers, trinkets and slinky bit of silver, they're probably more ornate than your average tea cup... Made in China? Made of China? I think I know which one to opt for if I'm feeling extra careful and non clutzy...
It's Tee-Bor, not Tie-Bor...
It will probably dismay a lot of people to know that my love for the frivolous isn't really extended to bags. Extravagant clothes, yes. Ridiculous shoes, yes. Overly-adorned bags? No. It's not a matter of cost. I have no objections against expensive handbags. However, it's simplicity I'm after. With simplicity, also comes oversized. My love for the non-descript functional big black leather sack is evident in the lack of bags in the outfits which I post. It's like the boring daggy side of me instilled into whatever bag I'm carrying. It's also my way of restoring some balance into my outfits. I could have on a grey tulle tutu and a silver headdress but the functional, nondescript bag weights it down and restores some sense of normality.
A limited treat...
I've always had high hopes for Johnny Loves Rosie accessories. Flowers in the hair, adorn, decorate etc. It should be working for me right? However for some reason, they have never really truly 'delivered' for me, often coming off as a little 'mumsy' dare I say....
However, this new high-end range of super limited accessories that is oversized, bold and less.... 'middle of the road', is completely on track for the Susie headgear accumulation goal. In fact, if i had all of these and treated to myself to a JLR treat every week as Johnny Loves Rosie plans to sell this range at Topshop Oxford Circus and also to drop six new styles every WEEK, I'd say that my goal could easily be achieved.
