Recyling Ruffles for Ruffs

Just to prove that no one can RUFF-fle my feathers, when a random commentor left a string of nasty comments on quite an old crusty post (why do that if noone is reading the post... pointless?  Yes...) that went along the lines of 'That's so ugly and so are you!', it reminded me that yes, I must take another look at neck ruffs again.  The Kapow Wow neck ruffs that Claire from Enchant and Doom used in the Roisin Murphy video that I so love are now available online at No-One, except a few are sold out... I'm hoping it's the Roisin Murphy effect that did it because that would prove that 'nuff people love her as much as I do...

Kapowruffs

However, as much as I'm a lazy bum and yes Kapow Wow have done a good job on their ruffs, they sort of gave away their secrets by revealing that their ruffs are made out of vintage petticoat skirts.  With the cat out of the bag, it's hard to fork over £60 for their efforts.  Shameful, I know....

So now, to get the desired colour combos and the right amount of volume that I want in a ruff, I'm now looking to DIY options with the skirts on eBay/Etsy or from Rokit (though grossly overpriced they do have a big colour selection...) or Beyond Retro.  I'm thinking two or three pastels intersected with each other with mucho layers...

It might be that I'll come crawling back with my NOT so ruffly tail between my legs and go for the Kapow Wow creations but we shall see...
