It was The Apathist who first turned me onto Hoiming which makes me look like a right plonker seeing as the designers are from Hong Kong and really, *slaps wrist* I should know better.  Furthermore it seems the mission statement of Hoiming (consisting of Hoiming Fung and Baldwin Pui, grads of HK Polytechnic Uni) basically solves my issues with bags in gener al.  They want to create bags with surprises, twists and challenge the usage of a bag AKA more of a statement than just 'This is a bag hanging off my arm'.

When I first saw Hoiming's 'Big Pocket' collection, the context of the imagery didn't quite hit me until I saw the feature on Hoiming in issue 4 of Borne magazine, a freebie-zine that is available to pick up at a lot of places in Glasgow and in Urban Outfitters and American Apparel in London, and for which I contribute a wee regular page.  Shooting Hoiming's beautifully bespoke half leather jackets, half bag creations in this context suddenly makes me go that extra step of saying 'Yes, that is indeed lustworthy'.  The practical and structural aspects of them were perfectly showcased in their original lookbook imagery but Borne has made me feel like if I don't own a Hoiming leather jacket/bag hybrid that I there is something severely lacking and I'll disappointingly look at my present leather jackets and sigh and say 'You're just not a Hoiming are you? Why goddamnit, why?'
